  1. Antidepressants only work if taken every day.

  2. Antidepressants are not addictive.

  3. Benefits from medication appear slowly.

  4. Continue antidepressants even after you feel better.

  5. Mild side effects are common and usually improve with time.

  6. If you’re thinking about stopping the medication, call your clinician first.

  7. The goal of treatment is complete remission. Sometimes it takes a few tries.
